The Programme
Level 2 Barbering Apprenticeship
This is a government-approved apprenticeship. You will split your time between working on the shop floor at Do It For The Art Studio in Bletchley and attending training at MK College to earn your Level 2 Barbering Professional qualification.
By the end of the programme you will be a qualified barber — with a real client base, genuine industry experience, and the credentials to take your career wherever you want it to go. A permanent role within the studio may be on offer for the right candidate.

The Curriculum
What You'll Learn
Consultation Techniques
Learn to assess clients, understand face shapes and hair types, and recommend styles confidently.
Hair Cutting Methods
Master clipper work, scissor-over-comb, fades, tapers, and precision line-ups from the ground up.
Styling & Finishing
Develop blow-dry technique, product knowledge, and finishing skills that make the difference.
Shaving Services
Traditional wet shaving, beard shaping, hot-towel preparation, and straight-razor technique.
Infection Control & Health & Safety
Salon hygiene, sterilisation, COSHH regulations, PPE, and professional standards throughout.
Social Media & Content Creation
Build your personal brand alongside the studio — creating content that showcases your work.
Day To Day
What You'll Be Doing
- —Supporting the day-to-day running of the studio
- —Maintaining a clean, organised, and welcoming environment
- —Learning directly from experienced stylists
- —Practising foundational skills — washing, blow-drying, styling
- —Developing cutting abilities on real clients
- —Restocking supplies and managing the floor
- —Creating content for the studio's social media
- —Attending networking events with the team
Entry Requirements
Who We're Looking For
Qualifications
GCSE English and Maths at grades 9–4 (grade C or above). Predicted grades are accepted.
